Northern Community Mediation (NCM) is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization whose mission is to help people in Charlevoix and Emmet Counties resolve conflicts. This sixteen-year old organization is one of 20 centers throughout the state of Michigan that constitute the Citizen Dispute Resolution Program, a legislatively-created program under the umbrella of the State Court Administrative Office (SCAO).

Although NCM's primary purpose is to offer mediation services as an alternative to litigation, it also provides other opportunities. Through workshops, NCM trains individuals by providing them with the skills to avoid and prevent conflict, to recognize when outside help is needed in resolving conflict, and to de-escalate conflict into a manageable process. Through special programs, NCM helps individuals avoid the stress of litigation by providing them with skills to cope with their problems. Through educational trainings, NCM strives to provide programs of a preventative nature.
